Hi Eman--thanks for letting me know about your party--sounds like a whole lot of fun---how strange that Bobby Sherman came on singing that song, after it had just been discussed. Your boss sounds like a good sport--I cannot see any of the bosses that I ever had acting like that !!

The Beautiful South are right at the top of my list--I was really sorry to hear they had split up. To hear them at their best, you need to hear them sing their original songs, like "Song for Whoever" "Good as Gold" ""Pretender to the throne"--loads more--all a little quirky in their lyrics, but great tunes. I would recommend their cd called "Carry on up the charts" which has many of their hits on--it is the first Beautiful South cd, I ever bought, but I was hooked with the first song [Song for Whoever], and I have all their cds now.

The lead male vocalist, Paul Heaton, has made a few solo albums, but they have not had the same impact.

Hi Mariana,
I guess we all have a kid still inside all of us!
Thanks for the info on The Beautiful South. I've already borrowed that cd from my boss and put it on my Ipod. I'll give it a listen. I like them because they are very melodic and relaxing, something rare in today's music world. OMG!! I'm sounding like my Dad!!

Eman, yes, their tunes are so catchy---but give a good listen to the lyrics--

" I love you from the bottom of my pencil-case" first line from "Song for Whoever".

And a line from "Good as gold"---"I love my sun-drenched , wind-swept Ingrid Bergman kiss.

Totally different to anything else---but that is what I love about them.

Mariana,
Their lyrics sound like it's right up my alley, a touch of the non-sensical with the sensical melodic music. I guess that's why I connected with them after listening to my bosses Ipod.

What about their lyric "Don't Marry Her F..k Me" ............which they changed to "Don't Marry Her Have Me" for the single release

Their best album title was ............London 0 HULL 4 ...............a footballing reference I think, as most of the band are from Hull and lived in the City :)

Yes, me too, Eman. And "Trampin".
And how about Patti's "Horses" album? Did you ever see her perform "Gloria"? I never saw her in concert, but I have the SNL video of when she performed "Gloria" on Saturday Night Live.
Puts ALL boy performers to shame when she does Gloria!

WoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooW!!! :o

Hey, give yourself credit, Eman! Any exercise is good exercise, right?
I get mine going up three flights of concrete steps numerous times a day....yesterday it was 12 times up and down, in fact, with groceries et al.

I recently rediscovered Robert Preston's "Go You Chicken Fat Go", which President Kennedy had sent to schools to get American kids healthier in the early 60s. And we were much healthier than kids now, I believe.

I love this funny record (and anything from the late great incredible Mr. Preston).
Written by the great composer of "The Music Man", Meredith Wilson...
I can use this inside here in CO with the constant 70 to 90 mph winds that keep us indoors.
I'd never get tired of hearing it.
