Peter is watching the American remake of The Italian Job tonight on Film 4.
I bet it's not a patch on the Michael Caine version.

Unfortunately, a lot of these remakes are are nowhere near as good as the originals, I think in most cases they should leave well alone.

We agree, few remakes are ever as good as the originals.
We remember the Lana Turner and John Garfiels 1946 classic " The Postman Always Rings Twice". Now they really up-dated that one..with Jack Nicholson and Jessica Lange.

Hi Lena - I heard there is a British remake of 'The Postman Always Rings Twice' coming soon.
But it's to be retitled 'The Postman Only Rings Once (if you're lucky) at Midday with no Sunday Collections' :)

Well our dick head of a postman comes to the door, puts a card through the letterbox to say that he has tried to deliver a parcel but has been unable to get a reply and even though after I've actually caught up with him he hasn't even got the parcel with him. He's got it in his trolley that miles up the road.

How did you get away with your earlier comment on your postman Lena and Harry? I'd have thought you'd have had to rename him Richard Head!!

We tried to watch the US version of The Italian Job tonight and just couldn't bear it. The US version of the Hong Kong film Infernal Affairs called The Departed, was OK but ONLY if you hadn't see the original Hong Kong version with that amazing award winning actor Tony Leung of "In the Mood For Love" fame.
