Jon's favourite group / Dozens of standout tracks on TRM
I have finally heard the new Manic Street Preachers song, Your Love Is Not Good Enough. Sarah Kennedy played it on Thursday. Don't know if I like it. It features a female singer Nina Perrson from the Cardigans, so it sounds a bit different than the usual MSP music. I wonder if our resident MSP fan, Jon, has heard it yet? It's A-listed on Radio 2's playlist, but many fans are upset that Radio 1 is not playing it. They also aren't playing the new song by Travis. But it's A-listed on Radio 2.
I'm sorry to say I disagree with you once again Robert. There aren't just a half dozen standout tracks on The Rare Monro. I've only listened to disc 1 and there are at least 12 standout tracks ... maybe more. The one I'm crazy about now (even though it's not a standout track) is How Could I Ever Leave You. At first I didn't care for it, but it's so much fun to sing-along with. My favourite is likely not one of "your standout tracks", but it's a stunning vocal tone painting.
Right now I'm listening to the title track from Any Winehouse's album Back To Black. This song should be a James Bond theme. Have you heard it? It's also A-listed on Radio 2 and right now Jo Whiley is playing it on Radio 1. I love it!

Hi everyone
As you can see, I'm now out of the closet, so to speak, with my picture added. I should add that it was taken rather a long time ago; I shan't say how long but it was after the invention of the motor car!
Paul, I see your comment about the Manic Street Preachers' new single. As you may know, I am a Huge MSP fan and I have indeed heard the new single (the album from which it comes, "Send Away the Tigers", is released on 7 May) and even seen them performing it on TV a couple of times in the last few weeks with Nina Pearsson. The song sounds OK; I haven't taken a dislike to it anyway, but I'm more intertested in hearing the full album. I will of course buy the album if I like it and usually try to listen to albums before purchase just in case (HMV and Vrgin are usually able to let you do this). Nikki Wire, the band's bass player, has said that if the album is a flop (as their last one was, though I loved it) they may call it a day, but he also thinks they may have cracked it this time (the London newspaper "Metro" today gives the album 4 stars out of 5). Interestingly, Nikki also says that the title, "Send Away the "tigers", is a direct quote from English comedian Tony Hancock, who apparently used the expression to refer to his depressions.

From Japan......
Listening to my CD from Japan......Jack Jones Sings.
Jack is in top form on this recording. His version of Watch What Happens must be the most gentle & soothing one as he almost whispers the lyrics. I also love what he does with Peggy Lee's The Shining Sea.
