Just listening to David Jacobs playing a song from the movie "Yes Georgio," starring Luciano Pavarotti. The critics as cruel as they often are nominated Pavarotti as the worst actor but the music in the film was highly praised.
The song he sang was quite different to his usual powerhouse Tenor songs, and we agree'd with David .. "If We Were In Love." was beautiful.

Ive been listening to a bit of Claudine Longet recently. You all know who she is, but how many of you are familiar with her music? She has quite a distinctive smoky breathed french accent. Very unusual, but nice. Does anyone know if she had much success?

I do not think that I have ever heard her sing--I did not even know she was a singer.

We remember Claudine Longet when she often appeared with her then husband Andy Williams on his shows here in the Sixties. The Osmand's also appeared with him.
Haven't really heard any of her music since, but she never impressed us with her singing then.

Listening to the wonderful Charlie Landsborough singing "my forever friend" - one of his own songs.
I just love Charlie's songs and his voice is quite unique. :D :)

Hi John

Sorry to bother you but on the Perry Como twofer, track no. 4 Dream Baby sounds bad on my hi-fi. Can you please check? Don't you hear any distortion like it is mastered from worn-out vinyl?

Been listening to The Rare Monro, disc 2. In between the live swinging numbers, Michele has inserted some beautiful ballads and most of them are in glorious stereo.

Did Claudine Longet sing Love Is Blue?
I heard a very breathy version a long time ago and I sort of remember her name. I remember blacklisting it so that I will never buy her stuff by mistake.

Hi Terence, yes I see what you mean now about "Dream Baby". I am listening to it at the moment, I haven't noticed it before, I often put the music on whilst cleaning or in the kitchen and don't always listen to it properly. It is quite distorted. but the next track "Where Do I Begin" is good. Strange how the tracks can differ, especially when they are on the same album and recorded around the same time. "I Think Of You" is playing now, this is a superb song. 8)

Thanks Lena and Harry for confirming that. Apparently some men find her singing sexy and suggestive!

I have some recollection of Claudine Longet being involved in the shooting of her "ex-lover" during her marriage to Andy Williams.
Can't recall the outcome though.
Marian.

As far as we can remember he was a ski champion and after a lengthy investigation she was cleared of the charges, but we also remembwer that Andy Williams supported her in this case.

Yes thats right L&H! She was accused of murdering Spider Sabich, but was acquited. Its spoken about on the Andy Williams DVD, Moon River and me. But i quite like her singing, looks like im the only one tho
Although, I think Terence is probably right in what he says - she was very easy on the eye too
