Friday Night Is Music Night

I'm listening to Friday Night is Music Night on the web, using the listen again feature. BBC iPlayer.

It was presented by John Barrowman. Unfortunately, he couldn't sing due to a sore throat. After the overture and introductions by John B, the opening number was sung by Peter Grant and was a rendering of Walk Away. Which actually reminded me more of the tone of the original version as sung at the Eurovision of 1964, but in English.

Funny thing is that, John refers here to the story about Matt Snr's grandson putting all his grandpa's CDs to the front of the rack in the M section in the CD shops. Listen for this at around 7mins 55 secs.

We are listening to Matt right now singing "Yesterday" on Eric Hall's show.
Cilla Black is guest and talking of The Beatles, and she mentioned this song and how Matt made this beautiful recording.
She said that she didn't want to sing "Alfie" and thought it was a name for a dog or a budgie  but Burt Bacharach came over and persuaded her to sing this song.
The nice thing about Cilla, a nice personality and never pretentious, just like Matt really. :) :)
