Wednesday 9 June - Siren 107.3 FM - Alex Lewczuk

Post by Administrator » Fri May 14, 2010 12:32 am

I have been talking to Alex Lewczuk on Siren 107.3FM several times over the last few months now. The show runs from 5.00-7.00pm and I have been popping up at about 5.55pm, just after the news. Please note this is NOT a repeat of any other broadcasts I have done with Alex for Southside Broadcasting.

Because of the 50th anniversary of 'Portrait of My Love', they want a regular 6.00pm feature on ‘The Midweek Drive’ each Wednesday featuring a Matt Monro track with an introduction by myself. The shows are streamed as well as going out on 107.3fm in Lincoln.

A really nice interview Michele, and it was lovely to hear Val Doonican's Elusive Butterfly just before it too. :D It was interesting to learn that the guy who made Val's rocking chair also made your Dad's stool, that Matt Jnr still uses.
Just wondered, does he take it abroad with him, and did your Dad? :)

Another nice interview. Interesting on the subject of Matt being snubbed by some stars, but no doubt a quick change of heart when he became bigger and more famous than them. Can imagine how this goes on in the showbusiness world. :)

The stool went absolutely everywhere, it became a regular site on the stage for a great number of years and Matt Jnr has adopted it and also takes it everywhere with him.

Matt Jnr kindly let us take some photos of "the stool" a couple of years back in Southsea. It has 'Matt Monro' on one of the legs. They are on the photo album somewhere.
Interesting to hear it went everywhere with your dad Michele, and now with your brother.

I agree Robert, the girl on the Wednesday shows does sound rather dozy. I think there might be two of them too!

The other people on the show are different each week and are there on work experience.

Robert, with regards to homesickness or butchering his music - you obviously haven't read the book - ten marks deducted!

I was just going by what you have said in different interviews Michele  in most you say it was because of homesickness, but in this interview you said Matt decided to come home there and then because of the "butchering" of his music.
