Marian, Yes Chris Dean was at one time touring with The Great British Big Band and he had played and recorded with the very best of musicians such as Ted Heath and has also played lead trombonist under the direction of Don Lusher, and they don't come any bigger than that and with vocalists, both male and female. It's bound to be a good show this evening.

There is still a very good following of the Big Bands in the country Adam and some good singers too.
Malcolm Laycock's Sunday evening programme is predominantly The Great British Dance Band era but includes the American Sweet bands and the later Big Band Swing bands and vocalists.
During Malcolm's programme he gives out all the news of current and upcoming Swing Concerts and events that include the times and locality.

Lena and Harry,
Thanks for directing me to the Syd Lawrence page and the great voice of Chris Dean - brilliant! I've been busy of late (I was singing in a Hospital in Cardiff this afternoon!) and have missed all the chit-chat but I have a relaxing spell coming up so I'll be 'talking' on the Forum! I think I've just picked up 2 shows on the Isle of Man - I'll know more in a couple of days! Hope all the 'forumers' are fit and in fine fettle?

Hi Bill, it's good that the Syd Lawrence Orchestra is still going strong, but there are some other good bands and groups out there today with talented musicians, still keeping the good music alive. No doubt you've seen them in your entertainment experience Bill.
Also, nice to be cheering up the patients in the Hospital and glad that you are keeping busy.
Another rainy day here in London Town but it can only get better.

And the weather will improve! In fact today was so humid! Thanks for your reply I knew you would! I have a rest this week-end as my partner Margaret is in a play so I want to support her. Then I enter a very busy period the most exciting being 2 bookings in a Hotel from where, in the same district, Prince Charles has purchased a farm!
Keep fit and healthy!

Sounds like a nice weekend Bill, and hope Margaret's play is a success.
Put a few leaflets through Prince Charles's letterbox about your show and you never know, while the cat's away, the mice will play. Camilla at this time is sunning herself on a yacht He may take you by surprise and stroll in. Not sure what his poison is though.
