A most enjoyable show. Matt's segment was very brief but nevertheless very welcome. Nice to see Tony Christie on the show tooflying the flag for the Brit boys.
Sadly, I think you were quite correct Michele when you talked about this country not appreciating your Dad's talents as much as other countries do. Your Dad was THE GREATEST natural singing talent this country has EVER produced. At least the 20th Anniversary has brought some recognition of that at last!! I've never understood why the British treat our stars that way. My home town star, the late David Whitfield, was treated in a similar way - adored all over the world especially in America and Australia yet hugley undervalued in his later years in this country.
Realyy looking forward so much to watching 'The Man with the Golden Voice'.

Hi., I saw the show 'Saturday Swings'., and you were right, Matt was never really given the accolades he deserved in the UK.
Can't wait for the BBC 4 show on the 14th.
Matt's voice simply resonates with quality, each tune sounds like the opening sequence of some Hollywood blockbuster, and it's great that he is so fondly remembered.
Funny thing is., each time I imagine him as the 'Singing Busdriver', I get these daft images of 'On the Buses' with Reg Varney ! Still, both have a place in my heart, having figured prominently in my life !
Best wishes to all connected with, and those who read the website..

Saturday Swings

It was really funny watching myself on the TV last night and considering they edited what I had to say to a few brief sentences, I am really glad they left that in - I truely belive he was underated in this country and I am not afraid to voice that opinion.

I have now seen the next programme "The Man With The Golden Voice" and I am really pleased with it, I think they have done a first rate job. The only flaw was that my brother had to be edited out. That was a shame as he flew in from Spain especially but because the BBC filmed his segment outside, when they came to edit they found some background noise over the top - that's what happens when you film at the golf course.

Other than that top rate.

Enjoy
Michele

:D Well said Michele! Your opinion is as valid as anyones. I'm pleased they left that bit in too. Makes people take notice! It's good to see that you do all the things you and your family do to keep your Dad's memory and music alive for us. He was unique.
Good to hear you're pleased with the end product of The Man with the Golden Voice. Sounds like it will be enjoyable to watch. Looking forward to it.
Best wishes.
