STOP PRESS

Post by Michele Monro » Sat Sep 11, 2010 1:48 pm

After nearly a year of discussions I can now reveal that the BBC are laying on a very special tribute night at The Mermaid Theatre in London. Going out live on BBC Radio 2 between 8.00-10.00pm on Friday 8 October, Friday Night is Music Night is to be solely dedicated to the music of Matt Monro.

Although you can go on line and enter a random draw for tickets: http://www.bbc.co.uk/showsandtours/show ... matt_monro

I have been able to secure 20 tickets for any fans wanting to come. This will be on a first come basis and you need to email me immediately with your full name and address. This information will be given to the BBC so that they can send your tickets out.

Because of politics I am unable to bring the book on the night or indeed to any form of advertising so unfortunately it will not be possible to hold a special get-together beforehand but I hope to see those of you who come in the foyer or bar during the evening.

Thanks from us both Michele, Sounds like a great evening to honour your dad with Matt Jnr taking part and of course Colin Keyes, Lovely. !!!!
Paul Gambuccini will be the perfect host. Wonderful musicians conducted by the magnificent Richard Balcombe. We have seen Stephen Triffitt. He is fantastic, and little did we think we would be getting a preview of Darius Campbell before seeing him in a show next month.
Will be nice to see Graham Bickley, we remember (Joey from the series Bread ) and the talented Graham Molloy. (Jersey Boys. Frankie Valli.

On the Big Bands Pop idol cd, Darius sang "Let there be love"--it will be interesting to see if he sings it again.

This sounds as though it will be a fantastic show but unfortunately we are not able to be there as we had already arranged a weekend break in the Lake District with some friends and the booking could not be changed.

We are sure you will enjoy the evening and that it will be a fitting tribute to Matt.

We have arranged for our son to record it for us so shall look forward to listening to the show when we get back.

We will also look forward to seeing the postings here from all of you lucky enough to be at the show.

I am currently listening to the tribute on radio 2.
What a fabulous show the quality of the singers and orchestra is outstanding.
To have Matt Jnr and Colin Keyes participating makes it extra special.
In a year when michele's wonderful tribute to her father came out this bbc programme has made it extra special. Just one more thing I wonder how big the viewing audience would have been had it been shown on TV.
Best Wishes
Richard Turner
