Johnny Mathis

Post by grandpajan » Tue Sep 05, 2006 9:45 pm

In the 1980s, I was working in San Francisco. I just happened to be in a record shop when Johnny Mathis showed up. He was signing the record covers of his LPs. I, of course, wanted his autograph, so I now own one of his records with his signature and comment to me on the record cover. One of my sisters loves Johnny's singing and is very jealous of my ownership - she wishes she owned it.

I am also very envious of you--not only for the signed record, but being there in that record shop when JM came in. I have actually met him quite a few times at fan club lunches, and he is a really nice guy-quite shy , in fact.

Hi Mark--I am counting the days down--3 concerts after 10 years waiting!
I am away from home for nearly a week, getting together with friends and travelling to the 3 venues--London, Birmingham, Manchester--I cannot wait--less than 2 weeks to go.!

You'll have a lovely time-especially as this will be Johnny's first visit here in (is it)13 years.

Hi Mark--it is just over 10 years--almost to the day--the last concert of the previous tour was 21st September 1996--and the first concert of this coming tour is 20th September 2006.

Obviously we wish there could be more concerts--only 3 this time--instead of the normal 11 or 12, but we have to remember he is 10 years older, and in fact has had some surgery in the last 10 years--2 Hip operations, and a back operation which took a long time to recover from.

So we are more than ready for these concerts!!

I find concerts/visits by a favourite artiste are amazing tonics/healers.
Best Wishes,
Markx
