Sorry, I don't know that one Lena and Harry. (Maybe just a little before my time. ) We were up in London around the Chapel Market area a few weeks back, Peter was looking up his childhood memories. It seemed like not too much had changed since he was a boy. We found his old house and his school, which is now a car park. :? :?

Was the lady still there Marian, selling her beetroot     I remember the rag and bone man used to give balloons (to blow up) when I was young.

The rag and bone man is a reminder of comedian Arthur Askey's radio show in the late Thirty's "Bandwaggon." Another resident comedian on the show Sid Walker would enter with his signature tune that went like this.... Day after day i'm on my way singing Rags Bottles And Bones.

Didn't see her Robert. I expect the rag and bone man collected her a long time ago!! :? :?
I've heard of "Bandwaggon", but don't think I ever heard it, and of Arthur Askey of course. My earliest radio programmes were "Ray's a Laugh" with Ted Ray, "Much Binding in the Marsh" etc..
