Just thought i'd share with you a little bit of info about the New 2 on 1 CD.
Whilst the CD is the first UK release of the tracks there is one track that will be new to you in a whole different way.
Grandes Exitos En Espanol is in fact an alternate title for the Alguien Canto album.
When this album was released in Stereo it's title track was only in Mock Stereo. All subsiquent issues were all in this Mock Stereo.
EMI UK, it appears, did not have a tape of this record and so a Dub from a fairly battered vinyl LP was used for More Heartbreakers in the early 1980's. (This is before any digital restoration was available).
This was the version used ever since on every UK CD Release. When Michele told me that EMI wanted to issue the complete album I told her of this problem. Although we could source a decent copy of Alguien Canto it was still in Mock stereo and mixing it back to mono was not an option as extra reverb had been added.
Coming to my rescue was John, who living just a few sort miles from me was able to furnish me with no less than 4 copies of the original Mono single. I got a great transfer and this was cleaned up and sent to EMI.
Spool forward a couple of months to the Fan Club meet. John sent some LP's down to sell. Michele wanted to buy one in particular of the Spanish recordings that came from Argentina and asked if I would make a quick dub of it before I came down to Hayes.
To my major surprise "Alguien Canto" was in REAL STEREO.
Needless to say I quickly restored the track and submitted it to EMI. So not only does the LP recieve it's first official release in the UK but So does the Stereo Mix of this song - Why the Stereo only appeared in Argentina is anybody's guess.
Hope you all enjoy the album.
Richard
