Hi Paul--sounds like you got a good deal---maybe some might think too much to meet us crazy people---but you get Matt Jr thrown in as well

That is a strange thing about Johnny Mathis singing "When a child is born"--it was very, very popular over here, and even now, at Christmas time, you will hear it played everywhere along with all the other Christmas Classics--yet even JM has said himself at a concert, that it did nothing in USA.

I have thought of a couple more songs that I cannot stand--both have been recorded by Jm , plus many others--they are "Everything is beautiful" and "Rose Garden "--do not ask me why, I really do not like either of those songs--whoever sings them!

Joe Walsh is an unknown name to me.

I like some of Robbies stuff, but his recent tracks have been very disappointing. He was doing so well in his early solo days, and when I saw him in concert 3 years ago, he gave an amazing performance. I He is very versatile, but I think he feels the need to have to innovate all the time. I wish he would do some more swing stuff, he was quite good at it!

Robbie Williams' problem is that he broke ties with Guy Chambers. I knew this break would be a disaster. Guy Chambers is a brilliant songwriter and he knew exactly how to work with Robbie to develop such classics as Feel, Something Beautiful, Let Me Entertain You, Supreme, The Road To Mandalay, Strong, and Angels.

I agree that Rudebox is just terrible, and I think it contains bad language because words seem to be missing on the version played on the radio. The only song I loved since the break with Mr Chambers has been last year's Tripping. Advertising Space, Misunderstood, Sin Sin Sin, and Radio were dreadful. I have read that his new album will contain some of his best material ever, but I'm not holding out much hope.

Marian -- Joe Walsh is the guitarist with the Eagles. He also had a successful solo career with hits Rocky Mountain Way and one of my favourite rock songs ever, Life's Been Good. Ken Bruce played this song a few weeks ago, so it must have been popular in the UK.

I like both Everything Is Beautiful and Rose Garden, but only by the original artists: Ray Stevens and Lynn Anderson.

I'm not sure it's the worst song ever, but the latest from Katie Melua "It's Only Pain" is aptly named. I can't believe this rubbish is coming from the same singer who did the sublime "The Closest Thing To Crazy". I also enjoyed "Nine Million Bicycles".

Hello all. Robbi will go back to his "swing" sound very soon (I believe his next album will revert to swing), but especially when he gets a little bit older, and is too old for "pop" music
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On" :(

Robbie appeared before a crowd of 65,000 at Milton Keynes National Bowl the first of five nights. These concerts were supposed to have taken place at the delayed,- rebuilt stadium at Wembley. He joked and said.. It will be ready for Theo Walcott's testimonial.
There was flashing lights, and fireworks and Robbie appeared on the ego ramp soaking up the evening of screaming and shouting along to the opening number "Radio" still a quirky pop song even with Robbie swearing throughout the song
His singing was wayward, but a talented band and backing singers kept the performance on track, and as he larked around he seemed to live up to his recent description of himself as an end-of-the-pier entertainer.. he was also curiously sweaty from the start and said he was feeling like s..t but spurred on by the crowd gave a captivating performance
His friend Jonathon Wilkes sang " Me and my Shadow" with tedious banter. E.M.I. has removed a track called the 90s from his promotional copies of his new album as Martin Smith has threatened legal action but he performed some of it anyway singing about an evil man and much worse, don't know why he's upset ...Robbie said mockingly. He sang "Back For Good" and joked about them trying to get him on tour when he'd sold Three million tickets for his Summer dates.
He sang Advertising Space and by then Robbie and the audience were in strong bond.
Robbie appeared high above the stage clutching a double cone with his face smeared with ice cream and descended on a small platform to join his band for a riotous "Let Me Entertain You"
Changed into a hoodie he played his new single "Rude box" an amazing take of hip hop which was perhaps surprisingly one of the stand-out moments.
He finished with "Angels" of course and "Kids" :) and then still going strong after 90 minutes ran around punching the air in triumph.

Wouldn't have minded being in the front row Thomas.
Like Marian, we've got his DVD "Swing When You're Winning" and we enjoyed his TV show even in spite of some idiot friend of his who came and joined him and started swearing just for the sake of it.
It was good to watch him in a football match that he organised for charity not long ago with Terry Venables managing the side.
It was a shame when "Take That" disbanded.

I found Robbie's swing album (with the exception of Something Stupid) to be completely unlistenable. Robbie needs to get back with Guy Chambers and write classic new pop songs and not do mediocre versions of standards. We don't need another Michael Buble. As I've stated many times, if I want to hear standards sung properly, I will listen to Matt Monro, Doris Day, Jack Jones, Sammy Davis Jnr, Buddy Greco, Ella Fitzgerald, Keely Smith, June Christy, Bea Wain, Cleo Laine, and the list could go on and on. These young people just can't match the quality of the great vocalists.

Hi Paul--that my well be so, but I think it is quite interesting to hear these normally, more modern singers, try their hands at singing standards. I also really liked the Westlife Sinatra Tribute Album-"Allow us to be Frank"--it just gives a different perspective to these great songs---plus it brings them to the attention of a younger audience, who may not otherwise listen to them.
