Radio dedication for Matt's birthday!
Join me on Sunday afternoon at 4pm UK time on Bay FM http://www.bayfm.co.uk for our regular 3 hour stroll down 'Memory Lane.' This week it will be a ‘Pot Pourri’ of music from a spread of over 50 years! There will be birthday tributes to Scott Joplin, Michael Holliday, John Gary, and Mary Martin, amongst others, as well as our wonderful MATT MONRO, plus requests and dedications from you, the listeners, whilst the last part of the programme will be music from film, stage, radio and TV. Hopefully I'll be able to bring back some memories for you and I'll be giving out gold stars if you remember some of these singers. In addition I'll also introduce you to some singers whom you've either forgotten or missed altogether first time around.
Three hours of our sort of music, over 50 songs, without too much chat.
Take care,
Nick.

Sounds like up our street too Nick.

Sounds like a great show Nick. The link works okay, but now I have to remember to tune in at the right time!
Looks like it's a brand new radio station, so I hope it's successful.

This promises to be a good show. It's so good to know that Matt is deservedly included in the programme.

Re: Radio dedication for Matt's birthday!
Evening all!
Thank you so much for your kind replies. I've finished putting together this Sunday's programme and there will in fact be TWO songs by Matt! One will be for his birthday tribute and the other will be for a slightly different tribute. I won't spoil the surprise now, but you'll understand the reason for it when you hear it!
By the way - Marian, you are right, Bay FM, http://www.bayfm.co.uk is a brand new community radio station (i.e. non-advertising, not-for-profit and run by volunteers.) We've just been granted a licence to go 'on air' as well as on line and you can hear "Memory Lane" on Sundays, 4pm until 7pm. Some of the programmes are also put onto the 'Listen Again' facility.
Listeners can get in touch DURING the programme by either e-mailing studio@bayfm.co.uk or texting 07947 211311. At other times management can be e-mailed at radio@bayfm.co.uk and they will forward anything to me.
I do hope you will enjoy the programme - and thanks to Michele and Richard for allowing me to tell you all about it!
Take care,
Nick.

Re: Radio dedication for Matt's birthday!
Well we have browsed the station Nick, and also judging by the singers that you have mentioned on your posting, including Matt, we are grateful that these Golden years of singers and the classic songs are being kept alive.
Unfortunately we can't get sound from either players or even Winamp, just wondered if anyone else on the forum is having a similar problem

Re: Radio dedication for Matt's birthday!
I've only just seen your reply Lena and Harry. I didn't have any problem with the sound at all but according to Nick some people had problems. I had the programme on until half five when my daughter phoned, and then dinner to get, so the rest of the time went and I just didn't get back to it.
It seems a popular programme and it was lovely to hear all the old songs again. I heard Matt's first spot and it was a nice touch to hear something about the singers after each recording. Of course we all know all about Matt! I wonder what the second tribute was all about, maybe if no one heard it, Nick will be able to tell us.

Thanks for your reply Marian. Glad that you were able to hear most of the programme. Not for the want of trying, all we had was buffering, but we'll try again.
Re: Radio dedication for Matt's birthday!
I just tuned it on Tuesday at 11.20 and heard Down In The Boondocks (one of my old favourites) and that was followed by Brenda Lee It Started All Over Again, it was loud and clear so I hope you have better luck next time L&H.

Re: Radio dedication for Matt's birthday!
Hi everybody, thank you so much for your kind words about the programme.
I checked with management during the programme as soon as one of the listeners reported a reception problem and they investigated but said that there was no problem at our end. They thought it may well have been some of the ISPs reducing their service, which some are prone to do, although sometimes the problem can be solved by coming out of the website altogether, waiting a couple of seconds and going back in. This is what that listener did and all was then well. I checked later with people from around the country (and in Malta) and they all said that they were able to listen all evening.
For those of you who did have problems, the programme has been put on 'Listen Again' - and I'd love to know what you thought of the second Matt tribute!
If any of you are interested in listening to future programmes and would like a particular request or dedication please feel free to get in touch - but please give me a week or two to find the music as all the music that I play is from my own collection!
I do hope to hear from you again,
Take care,
Nick.

Re: Radio dedication for Matt's birthday!
Thank you for your message Nick.
We have just listened to the entire programme on the LISTEN AGAIN and really enjoyed the choice of singers throughout, and some of those singers really tested our musical knowledge, and as much as we appreciate the few and far between programmes of easy listening that we do still get today, it made a pleasant change from hearing the usual run of the the mill singers that can get repetitive.
It was intersting to hear the second tribute to Matt, and to hear that Colin Curtis who designed the Routemaster bus that Matt drove has just passed away.
Both lovely songs from Matt too. "A Few Tender Words" is just beautiful and On Days Like These is a big favourite of Matt's fans.
Thanks Nick for a very nice programme.
