DISASTER

Three days ago I lost all my emails from the last ten years and every single contact. I can only reply to you if you have emailed me. I have already had the machine in with one company but they couldn’t retrieve the data. I then sent it to a more experienced company who are backed by Apple so it sounded promising. Before you say anything I had 3 back ups of the files but something strange has happened and it appears the machine has been over-writing with a blank 20010 version. I invested in a Time Capsule three years ago and when I went to use it, it came up with the message that it had not done a save since 12th December 2012 and that the recovery disc wasn't available!!
Last night the company came back to tell me they could recover 98 per cent of the data - the quote - £8,800. Yes you read it correctly. I'm not sure whether they think this is NASA headquarters or possibly the CIA but I have never heard of anything more ridiculous.
I cannot begin to tell you how devastating this is. My email system is the equivalent to someone's office and my files are like filing cabinets. There are near on 8 thousand pieces of correspondence including all the condolence emails that the family received after mum died and all your wonderful comments on my book on dad. I am fully booked with the cruise lines next year but do not have one contact name or number in which to get in touch and ask them to send me the paperwork again. Here’s one instance. I have booked a flight to Madeira. I do not remember the airline, the reference number nor do I have the E Ticket – they are all in the emails. My M.S plays havoc on my memory so everything is written down and kept. The reality is it would be impossible to print everything out as I don’t have a house that big.
I usually print a cruise file out about two weeks before the travel date. The cruise ship I am on in January has just been taken over by a new company who are based in Greece and I don’t know anyone else who would know the details. DISASTER.
Anyway I have been without a computer or email for near on two weeks so forgive me if an email you wrote remains unanswered. I leave in a few weeks for the best part of three months and am way behind in everything including the forthcoming festive season.
The most important thing is to wish you all a fabulous Christmas and a happy and healthy 2014. Here's wishing you everything you wish yourselves.
