Did you attend the Beck Theatre last year, or indeed any theatre where Matt had support. If so what was your evaluation of the act.

Although I welcome your comments in the Forum could you also send a response to my personal email address.

Many thanks

I have the greatest admiration for any one who performs on the stage.BUT The two girls appearing with Matt Jnr At The Beck last year were totally unsuited to Matts performance.
The dance routine performed by one of the girls while Matt sung that great song Mr Bojangle was greeted with laughter by some folk seated near us....

We went to see Matt at Southsea minus the girls and it was a magic evening , a relaxed Matt , lovely touches of humour with Colin etc.

Sorry to be so hard on the girls and I'm sure they will find other stage work more suited to their talents..

We were at the Beck Theatre last year after the Fan club meet to see Matt's show.
We are ready to accept that time makes changes, but opinions and ideas of a good voice today leaves us completely baffled, and coming from what is regarded as the old school, and going to see the star performer was always the ultimate thrill, without any unnecessary added frills, and in Matt's show we confess neither of us were particularly impressed with either of the girls singing, along with the painful agonising expressions for some unknown reason, regardless of the lyrics, they came with every song that was just too much.
Matt sang Mr Bojangles superbly but the dance routine by one of the girls was nothing short of embarassment. It was an exchange and the butt of jokes for the next fortnight.
There's nothing wrong in trying new ideas, but we weren't impressed with this one.

Yes, we were there at the Beck, in the front row with Lena and Harry.
We thought the girls tried to completely dominate the show, and were way over the top in their perfomance. Their singing spots in the first part of the show went on far too long and were far too powerful and "in your face".
They certainly didn't come across as a supporting act, as they seemed to take the opportunity to put themselves in the spotlight rather than supporting Matt and the band.
I'm afraid we found the dance routine during Mr Bojangles was more comedy than artistry.
When we went to see the show again later in the tour, we were very relieved to find Matt was doing the whole performance himself, and the show was much improved by their absence.

I have to agree with the others on this one. I thought one of the girls was a better singer than the other, can't remember which. The dance routine was very memorable, there were a few laughs about it after the show, reminded me a little bit of Oliver Hardy dancing to the tune of "The Lonesome Pine" in "Way Out West", without being unkind.

The two girls spoilt the show for us, we felt very embarrassed for the girl who did the dance as it was diabolical. That was the reason we would have liked to have made it to Gunton Hall to see Matt without the girls.

He does not need anyone else as he is a great performer in his own right.
