One of our members, Barry Spinks is a huge fan of Humphrey Lyttleton and has a massive collection of records, CDs, posters etc. He has been collecting since the 70's and most of the items are signed. Thought you might like to know that Barry is being featured on the Antiques Roadshow on Sunday next, 2nd November. I know what they valued the memorabilia at but can you guess? Watch the show to find out.

A signed 7" of Humphrey Littleton recently sold for £7 on ebay if that is anything to go by, but of course it all depends how rare the items are and how big Barry's collection might be.

It is difficult to guess with having no ideas of quantities etc, but I am going for £5000.00

It is difficult, specially knowing what a following he had, but at a guess we would say..£1,500

Well my thoughts are somewhere in between, say £2,000.
Does the nearest get a prize???

I did watch the show, and the items were valued for insurance purposes at £3000 - £4000.
I believe this is always higher than the actual value.

Yes, we saw this Marian, and you are correct insurance valuation is always higher than the actual value of the goods.
This is of course for the owners protection.
When items and ephemera are signed specifically to a fan it can sometimes de-value it's worth, but Barry has a wonderful collection of this great jazz musician, and he's really proud of it and only half of it on show.
Well done Barry.
