Hi Michele

Will the forthcoming documentary have any footage of your dad live in concert from various tv programs or will it just be a collection of his photos? Would love to see him being interviewed by the press or arriving at concert venues, etc.

live footage

Well, the new dvd arrived today and was very welcome after a long, hard, stressful day at work!! :D
Enjoyed watching it very much. Nicely put together and I like the way of separating the conversation with the tracks. Some good songs and although it was yet again great to see the black and white footage, it was also wonderful for me personally to see the later footage as this is how I really know of and remember Matt Monro. It was good to see Matt in a more 'talky' aspect too in a couple of clips and it shows perfectly the warmth of the man and a lovely sense of humour as well as showing off that wondeful voice. I always remember Matt knew how to tell a good story  :D . It's easy to see why Matt Monro was, is and always will be one of the greatest singers there has ever been and why he is still so loved by so many people.
All in all, a very watchable, interesting and most of all, enjoyable dvd! Very glad that I bought it!! :D
It's been a long time to wait for all these cds, dvds, etc that we're being treated to at the moment and for me the wait has been well worth it!!
Happy viewing!

We have just watched 85 minutes of brilliance and sheer magic from "The Singers Singer."
This DVD brought back to us, not only many memories of Matts TV appearances, but once again a reminder of a performer of sheer artistry with an incredible voice and a wonderful sense of humour.
Contributions from the show business personalities and from Matts family make this a must for fans to add to their collection.

Just received the latest DVD "Matt Monro - A Portrait". I was disappointed in that it came out in PAL format and I had to watch it on my PC. I thought this one was supposed to be released in NTSC format for us poor fans here in America. Oh, well, guess I'll have to break down and get a DVD player that can handle "ALL" formats. The DVD was nicely done and I enjoyed everything. Thanks to ODEON for including a complete clip of "Birth of the Blues". The copy I have (VHS) is probably tenth generation or greater and very bad. Thanks to them also for a complete rendition of "I Left My Heart In San Francisco". Don Black said it was a shame they didn't record Matt's last concert. I think so too. I remember hearing about some recordings of Los Vegas performances (other singers, etc.). Does anyone know if Matt Monro may have been included in that group of recordings?

Has anyone noticed that this DVD spins very noisily when inserted in the DVD player. I tried it in my computer to see if it was any different but it was just the same. The recording is ok, it's just very noisy spinning around. I will let Amazon know, maybe it''s faulty.

I have watched "Matt Monro - A Portrait" on my comuter with head phones. There is a background hum when interviews are played. I don't know if it is faulty recording or some other problem. When played on a DVD player, the hum doesn't seem to be there. But, all in all, the DVD is very well done. It's too bad that we are not able to view the entire interviews, not just clips of them. There are a lot of TV performances that I have been able to view clips of lately. Perhaps ODEON can get hold of those and release them on some future DVD (complete performances, not just clips).
