As I'm sure most of you know but at midnight tonight it is my dad's birthday, he would have been 76 years old and regardless of whether he is here or not I want to wish him a fabulous birthday. I'm sure he's having fun wherever he is.

A little early, but remembering the great man on his birthday.
Keep the music playing.

Happy Birthday to Matt, now charming the angels in heaven. My own father, who is sadly also no longer with us, was born on 31 December 1930, just weeks after Matt, so I've always felt there to be some kind of connection there.

Matt Monro touched the lives of millions of people. I bought my first Matt record when I was 14. Now some 41 years later I eagerly await his new CD in January. Living as I do close to the Abbey Road Studios, I often think of Matt when I pass there and the many wonderful recording he made at this world famous place. Today I will go there and pause for a moment and send a thought of affection and thanks to the man of immense talent, warmth and humour. Happy Birthday MATT.

Happy Birthday to Matt on what would have been his 76 birthday.
Believe it or not it is also my birthday today as well. I'm 21! [This is the first time I have been 21 but no doubt I will be the same again next year!]

Let's celebrate Matt's birthday today by playing at least one CD by the great man. Let all the neighbours hear some great music today! :D

Happy Birthday Hilary!!! How are you celebrating such a significant age? You were born on 1 December 1985, which means you'll be 76 in 2061.

Hi Lena, Harry, Jon and everyone,

Thank you so much for the birthday greetings.
Jon - I feel so old now......can't wait to retire but it is a long way off I think!

We shall be having a family party tomorrow night so that will be nice.
Maybe I shall have a sherry trifle or two!

Yesterday I e-mailed Terry Wogan to remind him that it was Matts birthday today(I have written to him every year for the past 20 years)
and today success AT LAST!!!!
At about 9.16, just after Pause for Thought, he mentioned that it was Matts birthday and played Portrait of My Love when it had finished he sent his regards to Mickie...I was so pleased. Since Paul Walters had to leave the programme due to his ill health we don't hear as much of Matt.. lets hope that they start to include him more often again.
Did anyone else hear it?

Thanks Sue for telling us this and e-mailing Sir Terry Wogan. I will use the "listen again" feature to listen to his programme. He should play a Matt Monro song at least once a week. His music is timeless.

I didn't remember that today was Matt Monro's birthday. I have been only listening to Matt Monro and Matt Jnr before and after Fans Reunited. But since it's now December I only brought the Christmas Magic CD single with me today. I will listen to it on my drive home from work and listen to more Matt Monro music this weekend.

Happy Birthday to the greatest singer ever.
