I cannot believe that none of you, bar one, has been to the trailers lately, which I have renamed The Matt Monro Video Experience. There are 9 new snippets, one of which is a 15 minute mini documentary on Matt Jnr. I had hoped that would get you all talking.

Disssssaaaaaappointed

Michele,
I directed Robert and Mike to the trailers recently as they didn't know how to get there, perhaps you need to put directions for the elderly and infirm!!

When the news page was updated "Matts Video Experience" wasn't up and running at that time, so I missed it, until Marian pointed it out to me

Hi Michele---I had spotted the trailers--but maybe there are several people like me, who have just not had the time yet to watch them--I know I intend to soon.

Have just seen the mini documentary on Matt Jnr, `excellent` brought back many happy memories of the performances we have seen. Also excited to learn that Matt Jnr is to marry soon, our very best wishes to him and his future wife.

Evening everyone, have now had a chance to look at all of the clips, and its great to see them available to view for free! i will make sure I buy the dVDs in due course

The clips of Matt seem to fall into two groups, ones of live performances in front of club audiences, and the other of TV shows. Its wonderful to see some colour footage, in particular 'Walk Away'. Even though this has a powerful lyric, to see Matt singing to the silent model with visual emotion, does bring a bit of a lump to the throat! What comes acress in all the clips is the ease which Matt performed these classic tracks.

Some of the clips have a quirky look to them 40 odd years later - for instance the 'Impossible Dream' one, shot with a load of vintage cars in a parking garage, has a look of 'the Avengers' about it! The same set up is used in 'Todo Pasara' - which is 'All of a Sudden', as sung by Matt on the 'Rare Munro' album. i guess these would have been lip-synched i.e. matt would have mimed to the recorded soundtrack, but as we all know from watching Top of the Pops - this is easier than it sounds ! But even this Matt accomplishes skillfully!

the clips from 'night clubs' show a fascinating view of entertainment in the 60s. a far more intimate experience than todays arena tours. As well as performing superbly, you get a glimpse of Matt as a performer, his humour, his character etc. You can Matt is enjoying it as much as, if not more than, those fans who were enjoying an evening of sophisticated entertainment. What a star!

Finally, The Matt Jnr clip is welcome intro to the current generation of Monro's, and the desire to keeps Matts name and sound alive. i've not yet enjoyed hearing Matt jnr live, but hope to soon! The love and pride that Matt Jnr speaks of is plain for all to see.

Mike, the name is Monro (anagram of moron) thought you would have learned the right spelling by now   most of the TV clips you mention were for Spanish TV, and yes Matt is "lip synching" during those 8) the nightclub performance by Matt was Matts only recorded "live" cabaret concert, in Melbourne, Australia (didn't know Melbourne was in Oz did you ?? ) in 1967.

Hi Michele

Fabulous, thanks for posting these clips for us to see, but I would like more more info on them please, if that's possible!
How did you come across them, can you identify the exact years, what shows the clips came from?!

Thanks in advance!!!

Gray

Most of the black and white or Spanish clips are from Spanish Television. They were used on a show called "Galos del Sabado"

The other two come from Odeon's video "A Portrait of" which includes Go Go with Monro, a 40 minute special he did with Roy Castle.

Glad you liked them

Thanks Michele for replying, can I ask how you tracked the Spanish television clips down please?
Did you approach the tv company directly, was it as simple as that?

Michele and Gray, "Go Go With Matt Monro" came with the "Satans Harvest" DVD and not "A Portrait of" DVD.

Hi Robert

I did spot that also (I have the dvd's too) but I am fascinated how these clips get unearthed after 30+ years.
Thanks goodness they do, thank goodness somebody, somewhere archives them!
