March Updates

Post by ROBERT M. » Thu Mar 03, 2011 1:17 am

Interesting to read the latest updates :) but just a minor mistake I think  .............Hoagy Carmichael said that Matt's One Morning In May was one of the best recordings he had ever heard, whereas it was Bing Crosby who said I Get Along Without You Very Well was one of the best recodings he had ever heard.
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On" :(

Well spotted Robert--I had not realised that.

Some good things ahead of us--not least is the next "Fans Reunited"-

I hope to be there by hook or by crook !!

That's great, Marian. It wouldn't be the same without you and everyone else who's been to the previous Fans Reuniteds and new folks too. I'm already researching hotels in Kensington (my favourite there converted to luxury housing a couple years ago) and deciding where to plan my pre-trip. I'll probably return to Cheltenham Spa as I love it there and it's central for visiting Bath, Cotwolds, etc. But I know you said I must visit Cambridge and Canterbury one day. I'm also considering Surrey for Brooklands.

Robert: It doesn't really matter who said what. :) Matt Monro's recordings of One Morning In May and I Get Along Without You Very Well (Except Sometimes) are the best ever made ... no question at all.

Paul, I second the fact you must visit Canterbury and Cambridge, I visited Cambridge for a family holiday and I now live in Canterbury for most of the yea what with attending university here! It's great, throughly recommended!

Josh-I had not realised you lived in Canterbury--beautiful place--lees than an hour from me by train---very busy in the summer months--loads of tourists, as I am sure you will know.

Hope you can get time off to get to the "Fans Reunited" --a great time is guaranteed !!

Yes - we need a hotel too if lucky enough to get a place :)

Maybe Harry of Lena and Harry would be kind enough to advise nearer the time? :)

Lots of hotels in the Kensintron area-especially South Kensington---depending on suitability--plus depending whereabouts the "Fans Reunited "is--I guess that could be a possibility too.

Paul, you could probably do Canterbury on a day trip from London--on a fast train I would guess at a little over an hour to get there.
