Not here Marian, it hasn't stopped raining here today. But then again, it is Blackpool I'm talking about! Saying that, it was lovely yesterday.

OCTOBER ODE
(With apologies to Autumn Leaves)

The falling leaves
drift by my window
and form in piles
outside my door.
I scoop those leaves
of red and yellow,
come tomorrow there are piles more.
And they do collect
in ev'ry drain grille
so when it rains
there's overspill -
but I miss spring most of all
the seasons
when autumn's leaves
start to fall ...

(Imagine Matt mischievously singing
this out of tune, what a hoot!) :D

Good one Keith, and with climate change the leaves will no doubt start falling in spring! They do in summer already.

Yes, any one want to join us in putting our names down for the swim in the Serpentine for future Christmas Days. :) :)

Hi folks
If the Copenhagen climate change talks are a washout,
we won't need to travel to the Serpentine - the tune
on everyone's lips will be: River Stay Away from my Door.

That was a very decisive answer Robert. We were only going to put our names down.  :)

GRIFFIN

My dictionary definition
word for word:
'An imaginary animal with a lion's body,
an eagle's beak and wings.'
Perhaps predictable confirmation
that accurately rings
true of one weird, disordered bird.

ALL HALLOWS EVE

The annual day of foreboding is here,
of Samhain and the rise of All Souls,
when departed return from the dead.
Tonight we leave offerings of tasty fare
and a pass-on-by pumpkin-head light
lest we lie helpless prey in our bed
to the fiends that strike fear in the night ...

I am pleased to report that I have had two satirical poems,
October Ode and Recession Repercussions, published
in the November edition of a glossy magazine. Both were
first aired in this forum.

REDEMPTION

We urge you, 'Please return Guy Fawkes
with a new parliamentary plot'
(everything will be forgiven),
then with luck the current discredited lot
from the Commons will be driven.
