Agaist Time
=======
Don't be against time my friend, you will never win.
He doesn't give a damn you see, he's as old as the hill and you can't impress him.
Whatever you say, whatever you do, how slow or how fast you go,
time marches on at the same old pace leaving the rest up to you.
He has been there and done it, anywhere you can name.
Time is the boss of everything and he won't even know your name.
He looks at the worrying millions and he smiles to himself secretly.
In a thousand years time he'll be just the same so it's time that you listened to me.
I thought about time, your time and mine and concluded that time has it all. Then I decided to be happy, before my time has gone to the wall.
Baz the poet.

I agree with your sentiment Baz :) time does go by so very quickly, so it's no good moping while we are on this earth, try to enjoy it while we can. But time is also very short for certain people, taking them at an early age, young soldiers for instance, plus Jade Goody went far too early, as many other young people do, due to illness or accidents...........they do not get much time :( :(

Yes, I suppose we should all try to enjoy time while we have it. :lol:
Have you heard Matt's "So Little Time" Barry? One of my favourites. :D

Thanks for sharing your work with us, Baz.
Good poem. More please. I have an unfulfilled
ambition to write a 'time' poem. All I have managed
to date is an occasional reference to the old man
with the scythe.
Your verse put me in mind of Andrew Marvell's
piece, To His Coy Mistress, which, you will remember,
includes a reference to 'time's winged chariot hurrying near'.
Keith

Thanks Marian and Keith. I work for a brilliant composer called Alan Parker. He recently composed all the music to " Coast" for the BBC. Years ago, I wrote a poem entiteled "Time" and he was very complimentary about it, so it's the first poem in my first booklet " Fireside Poetry" You do need complimentary feedback without a doubt to keep you going. I will post it now for you:-
"Time"
====
Time is the strangest thing, strangest of all.
It's taken for granted but time says it all.
Everything is measured and time is the key.
Time is for everone plus you and me.
But what do we do with it, how do we master it?
Do we do battle or worry and fight over it?
Is it our enemy or is it a friend?
One thing's for certain, it's there 'till the end.
But time is a power and needs due respect.
Time can be fearsome, you can break your neck.
You fly around making sound trying to catch up
but do you ever catch up with it?
these days I doubt it.
So I say this to you, go back in time.
Slow down your hearbeat and get it beating in time.
Make time for the neighbour. make time for the kids.
Make time for yourself now with lighter eyelids.
Then your life will go slowly compared to today
and most of those worries old friend will seem,
well I should say, will be...
far far away.

Unborn

This poem means a lot. We are all unique in the world, so this little poem is meant to be for everybody. In other words, apply it to yourself.

"Unborn"
======
There I was unborn
"Things" were going on.
Then I paid a visit to the world,
then I was gone.
What did I leave behind me?.
===================

What you leave behind you is everything you said and done from birth to death. You are a creative force. It's important - because we are all important.
Barry.
