DECEMBER 2009

Post by mariana44 » Thu Dec 24, 2009 1:43 pm

This will be my 5th Christmas without George, and I recall that December vividly—after a long fight with the hospital authorities,, he was eventually bought home on December 20th after half my living room had been turned into a hospital ward.

It was the worst Christmas ever---no Christmas decorations, no Christmas tree, no Christmas presents, no Christmas dinner. The only “visitors” we could cope with were the carers .

But it was also the very best Christmas ever, as I had George back home with me again---which I had been fighting so long for—I did not need or want anything else-although we both knew in our hearts it would be our last Christmas together.

I learned a valuable lesson that Christmas---trimmings and trappings do not matter---the one and only thing that is important, is to be with the person that you love.

Hope you all have a happy Christmas with your loved ones.

Oh Marian I really do not know how we would cope and can't imagine what you must go through every year at this time.
Our thoughts are with you.

Thanks Sandra and John.

I would just like to take time to remember Freda who lost her lovely husband Len, just a year ago today. I hope that like me, she can eventually concentrate on remembering the good times they had together.

Hi Michael--thank you for your kind wishes and good to hear from you again-I have not been well for the last 10 days or so, but improving gradually.

Hope Marc was home with you for Christmas and that you both had a lovely Christmas.

Harry and Chloe say "Woof, woof, woof" to Freya--that means they hope she liked being out in the snow this year !!

We know how memories of loved ones come flooding back at this time of year Marian, and worse when you are not feeling well.
Glad that you are feeling better now. Take care.

The one thing that I longed for when I was ill in bed all last week was a cup of George's tea-he made the best tea--and mine was never, nor is it now, anything like the cuppa that George made.
