Sadly I am writing this to say that our dear friend and member Ed Harrod passed away on 10 February. He had been ill for quite a while and it was only a few days before he had left us that we had rung and sent our messages of love. Ed was such a staunch supporter of the Matt Monro legacy and helped me enormously when writing the book. I was so pleased to have met him when he was in the States and say a personal thank you to him for his dogged loyalty over the years since my own dad passed away.

I know you will join me and wish his family long life and that the ensuing days are easier for them to bear knowing that he was such a well loved gentleman.

So sorry to hear the sad news. I used to speak quite frequently to Ed via MSN messenger, we would talk about Matt and his music all the time. Thankyou Ed for being a good friend over the past few years. Thinking of you and all your family at this very sad time.

We too were sorry to hear the sad news about Ed. We only knew him through the forum but what was evident was his love for Matt and his music.

We send our sympathy to his family during this sad time.

Such sad news. So sorry to hear that Ed has passed away. He always had time to correspond with his friends on the forum and kept us smiling with his jokes and stories. He will be sadly missed by us all. Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

This is such sad news-my thoughts are with Ed's family at this difficult time.

So my feelings of deep unease have been vindicated.
I knew something was seriously amiss when my inbox
ceased to flower with Ed's humorous emails.
My friendship with Ed was brief but it blossomed
with the joy of our shared appreciation of Matt's music
and our shared sense of humour.
A light has gone out in this forum; we've lost a dear friend
and true gentleman. Like my short friendship with Ed,
I hope our sadness will also be short-lived and be replaced
by happy memories of a great guy. RIP Ed, mate.

I didn't know Ed Well, but we conversed by e-mail on many occasions. My thoughts are with his family.

I shall miss his trade mark ALL IN CAPITALS postings. Looks like he'll never get that sticky caps lock button fixed now.

Always a great help in my research for "Special Reserve"

How very very sad ............as we all thought Ed was on the mend ............the forum will not be the same without Ed's words of wit ...............I remember Ed saying on here that one of his favourite MM songs was Roses and Roses .......................RIP to our good friend and staunch MM fan Ed
