Matt recordings part english/part spanish.

Want to ask Richard Moore something - go for it! He is a veritable walking encyclopedia and is never happier than talking music.

Matt recordings part english/part spanish.

Post by Frederick » Fri Nov 11, 2011 10:45 am

I have Matt on DVD singing Todo Pasara/All of a Sudden partly in english and partly spanish. Did Matt ever make any recordings in this format or have any been professionally put together ? I think it would make a super album.

The only track that has been issued that way is "If You Go Away" - This has been released in both full Spanish and half Spanish/half English. (The Full english version does exist but so far remains unreleased) - The dual language version is a result of editing the versions together

Todo/all of a sudden was never recorded in dual language - I have mocked up a version as Matt sang it live for a radio interview Michele did, but it's not anything we would release due to having to digitally change the key of the English version to match.

Live Matt often sang the first verse/chorus in Spanish followed by the first verse again in English - the recording goes up a semitone after the first verse so the English has to be pitch changed to fit!

Whilst it would certainly be possible to combine many of the songs Matt sang in both Spanish and English I don't know how much of a market there would be for such a product.

Thanks Richard for your detailed and informative reply. I personally think that a dual language album would have quite a wide appeal especially if it could include some of Matts big hits. Perhaps I'm just one of those who can't get enough of MM in whatever format !!
