I'm sorry I didn't realise people were missing me . Don't worry I'm still listening to Matt. I've been busy working full time at Heathrow now. I've also just met a beautiful young lady who I'm spending my spare time with. How have you been my friend?
It's being worked on in time for the 30th anniversary of Matt's passing.
None of these things are quick to research or clear, we've been working on this for 6 months already and are still negotiating with many other companies.
Who knows this MIGHT be the very last Matt Monro DVD to be issued - the market for music DVD's is shrinking all the time combined with the silly prices people want to charge - so we need to get this packed with as much good stuff as we are able to just in case
The Rarer Monro CD took several years to put together. I've been working on other (non Matt) projects too that are taking a very long time to come to fruition. One of these coming out soon (which I'm not allowed to talk about yet) is 21 years in the making!
I'm also still trying to get the Shirley Bassey set I remastered issued - that was ready in 2011.
Yes Richard, if it is Matts last DVD release we need as much of the great material still in the vaults as possible ..............especially Ed Sullivan ........(let me check my Lottery numbers)
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
There aren't that many 'unusual' songs but it's something to consider - the biggest problem is that these songs are split across several companies, BBC, ITN Source, Canal etc which only complicates things further.
Sorry Robert, The Ed Sullivan just aren't going to happen - We have asked several times over six or seven years and they won't budge.
Richard I wonder if an American company might consider releasing them some day? I know there some Ed Sullivan releases over there.
I have quite a rare American video of a Lionel Hampton show hosted by Mel Torme and featuring Dusty as a guest.
From what you have said in the past I think the rules have changed from video to dvd?
The difference is that DVD's no longer sell in the quantities they used to, especially music DVD's.
At one point SOFA Entertainment (who own the Sullivans) were issuing their own DVD's but stopped a few years back - JUST before issuing a compilation featuring Matt. They contacted Michele for permission, which she gave but then stopped production before anything happened.
It's a sad state of affairs as there is some great stuff from USA (not just Sullivan) and Australia too that is just too expensive at the moment to even consider.
