Hi Ram and welcome to the forum.
No so far there hasn't been a film a Matt's life made - who knows though, if the book is sucessful somebody might make one!
'If I Never Sing Another Song' hasn't been available on CD for a while in it's original solo version, however there is very good news as it's being issued on not one but TWO cd's in the next few weeks.
Both "The Complete Singles Collection" and "The Greatest" contain a brand new remaster of this song (Which also happens to be my personal favourite).
The online shops seem to be dragging their feet getting these online for pre-orders at the moment with only HMV the only place that you can order the Singles - and at a ridiculously low price (I suspect this won't last for long so order it whilst you can!)

Welcome Ram.
Hi Richard.
Related duet/Muso query.
What is your opinion of vocal-cancelling hardware as per Tascam'sCDVT 2 ? I had the first version of the Korg Pandora some years back, which had a single-point cancel feature meant to remove guitar solo's in order to practice. It simply removed dead-centre info from the soundstage resulting in a mono signal just muffling any central-located lead lines .Ok,but no cigar...
Tascams apparently offers variable vocal cancelling points across the soundstage-I presume you
are familiar with Professional/Studio versions of this algorithim in your remastering work, or am I
singing up the wrong tree?
p.s. I just wanna singalongaMatt

Hi Don,
I don't know that piece of equipment it'self but it is perfectly feasable to remove information from anywhere in the stereo picture using phase cancelation but the resulting sound isn't always that good.
There is one piece of software available called Adobe Audition 3.0 that allows (through digital filtering) the removal of any part of the stereo picture leaving a stereo recording behind. and it will aso do the oposite and remove the backing just to leave a vocal behind. It's still not perfect but it may do what you want (you can get a free demo from Adobe i believe). It's not something I use much although I did use it on the Singles Collection to get the best version of 'Alguien Canto' possible
The Master of this song was last seen in Argentina and I haven't been able to trace it - The UK archives however have a tape of the stereo backing track used to make the recording. Michele has a copy of an Argentinian album with the full vocal version in Stereo (Which I used for the Spanish 2 on 1 a couple of years back). So I took the Vinyl and restored it afresh (using the latest technology), isolated the vocal and added the vocal back to the original tape. The results were somewhat better than the previous version.
But I digress. There is one other piece of software called 'sonicworx pro' which in theory can cleanly remove anything you like from a mix, however 2 years after being announced it's still not available for purchaise (I'd also need a high range Mac and another £1000 at least for the software) so it remains to be seen how well this works.

Very much obliged for that, Richard.
