Rare Monro highlight 'During One Night'

Post by johnfoyle » Thu Jan 28, 2010 12:35 am

A track from Rare Monro that I keep coming back to is 'During One Night'. It has to have one Matt's most perfectly pitched performances. I daresay I'll find out all about it when the deluxe edition of Michelle's book gets to me . Presumably it's from the 1961 film of the same name -

Maybe you might give me a 'sneak preview' and detail who plays on it etc.

Hi John,

This is from a session with just Johnnie Spence and a rhythm section inMay 1961. The same session that produced The Wrong Time/It's Alright With Me also on the Rare Monro.

It's very hard to say exactly who played on any of Matt's sessions in the UK as no records have been kept. We know that some of the great session players like Kenny Baker, Don Lusher, Kenny Claire etc will have been involved on some but that's as far as it goes.

The opposite is true for 90% of his capitol material as I have AFM records for those dates, but these names have not been included in the book for reasons of space (and sanity).

You are correct about this being from the film of the same name, but Matt had no connection with the film.

Richard
