My Kind Of Girl played on Sarah Kennedy on 21/4/06

I was just using the "listen again" feature to listen to Sarah Kennedy's broadcast last Friday (the Queen's birthday). She played My Kind Of Girl right before the 6:30 news. I was so surprised! The news was even delayed so she wouldn't cut the song. (The songs are annoyingly often cut on Radio 2 and Radio 1 to make way for the news or some promotion or talk, but how could see cut Matt Monro!).

Then after the news, she played one of my other favourite singers: Dusty Springfield.

It's great to hear these wonderful singers during the "daytime playlist" period of Radio 2!

Unfortunately it's now too late for the 'listen again' feature of last week's Sounds of the Sixties. For some reason 'From Russia with Love' always sounds particularly wonderful when you're not expecting it. And again, it was played in its entirety. Excellent.
