new cd to be released on Oct 10

Amazon has listed The Collection for release on 10 Oct.
Is this the Tesco cd with the stereo version of The Music Played?

The CD's name has now been changed to The Collection and it is due out on 10th October

It has just transpired at the 11th hour that EMI do not have a stereo version of The Music Played in English. They have now placed Alguien Canto in stereo on the CD (which is The Music Played in Spanish)

I am sorry for an disappointment this may cause but I have only just found out.

Also the Spanish track Si Te Amo has been replaced with For Mama. It seems that EMI do not hold the rights to that track. As this information has come in late, it is now too late for me to pick out alternative tracks and EMI has made the choice.

The Collection is still worth picking up for your dad's version of Close To You.

No, it is not the first time that this has appeared on CD. Matt's rendition of the song, (They Long to Be) Close to You, also appears on the Burt Bacharach & Hal David Songbook (cat no. VSOPCD 128), released on 21 February 2000. This is a collection of various artists singing the songs of, as the title suggests, Burt Bacharach and Hal David.

Alguien Canto is an excellent choice for inclusion, given the nature of the CD as an attractive first time buy for those not that familiar with Matt. A nice balance of those tracks for which he's famous (to get them through the door as it were) and some rarer material such as the aforementioned which demonstrates the singer's true versatility. I'll have to phone someone in the UK to pick it up from Tescos for me though, can't find it on the usual websites yet.

Apart from Close to You which I included as it has not been on a Matt Monro CD before, there is also Lily M'Lady which we have had many requests for.
