'Proper' discography

Post by Lee I » Wed Feb 27, 2008 8:19 pm

Hello all

I'm new here but have recently started a collection of Matt's albums. I wonder if some expert out there could message or email me a definitive discography of albums?

I'm not interested in compilations (hate them!), but an album list, with each release date would be very useful.

Thanks in advance!
Lee

Hi Lee, welcome again!
There is a complete discography accessible from the home page, which should give you all the info you are looking for.
There is also a Definitive Track List, accessible from the "News" section. Just scroll down and you'll find it.

Hi there,

Welcome

Michele Monro is currently writing her father's biography and as part of this I am compiling a complete anotated session listing and Michele and I are completely updating the discography with the aim that it will be the most complete and accurate ever issued.

As Marian says there is a good discography on the site that you can use until the book is published.

Besides myself there are plenty of collectors of Matt's records on this site so feel free to fire questions at us!

Richard Moore"s Web Site on Forum

Hi Richard---I cannot find your current discussion on Matt's rare recording
research you are doing. I found it a few months ago, but lost it!!
I was wondering if you discovered or mentioned the MM concert in Brighton on 2 Nov 1980 wherein Matt sings "I Write the Songs" and does an imitation of Sinatra version of "Let Me Try Again". Both vocals are great, and the sound quailty on my cassette is excellent and with pro-
fessional help could be trransferred to the next "rare" CD. Please reply to my E-Mail, or to this post....Thanks, Henry (hpucci@yahoo.com)

Thanks for the offer. As you will see when the site updates go up Michele and I are up to our necks in projects at the moment - and whilst i am slowling going through what I have already (and that's quite a bit) I have had to put a hold on obtaining anything else.

Dispite this don't let it put any of you off from writing to me personally or through this forum - Even if i don't have time to work on it at the moment I will get round to it.

There's always lots of things we are looking for. For instance

Anybody out there ahve a good quality copy of a complete show from the BBC with the BBC Big Band Presented by Sheila Tracy from the late 1970's. I have sections of this but none of the songs are complete. A good original copy from FM radio would be a major find!

As for the recording of which you speak - I think we already have a copy of this recording, which is an audience recording and not a "soundboard" recording (in other words not taken directly from the mixing desk) and whilst it is clear it is not of releaseable standard. Restoration as it stands at the moment can clean sound up - but not replace what's not there or make an audience recording sound like a soundboard.

Thanks for contacting me - though because you do actually have the original cassette recorded at the concert though I would certainly be interested in hearing it - everything I've heard has come from several generations away and is quite badly cut.

All the best

Richard

Richard, I used to have a copy of the show with Sheila Tracy, and it was complete, but when I was searching through some old tapes a few months ago, I couldn't find it, only one song. I was really disappointed because it was a good show and quite a good copy. :(

Going off of recordings... on the "Do You Have " page in our latest "Yours" magazine someone was asking for Matt Monro's "This Is Your Life." and will pay costs and postage etc.

I don't think anyone has a copy of "This is Your Life" Lena, only in audio.
Is that what they mean?

They did ask for a video Marian, but obviously don't realise that this is not available, just living in hopes that someone may have it. Another person was asking for the song sheet of Matt's "Walk Away."
It's unfortunate that lot of maturer people haven't got access to a PC., although there are classes available for them in centres and libraries now.
