Did Matt have any formal training?

Information is kind of sketchy over here in the U.S. But I have to wonder about Matt's incredible talent - and his flawless delivery. Did he ever attend some sort of school or academy for his craft? It seems that he never makes any mistakes! I'm not trying to find a flaw...I revere him as one of the greatest singers of the 20th century...but.....sheesh....

He makes it look so easy....and it's NOT! Just try and sing a song and match him.....if you have not been classically trained you may find yourself out of breath. He is a devinely gifted individual.

Was he a totally self-taught and styled singer?

Yes, I believe Matt was self taught, just pure natural ability.................not bad eh

I agree with Robert, Matt mastered all the technical
requirements of a consummate professional singer.
However, I think you answered your own question -
how can you train 'a divinely gifted performer'?
I think we are all blessed to have had Matt Monro
in in our midst as an individual, and to have his timeless
musical legacy to enjoy.

If you are able to watch the DVDs on Matt's career, the voice coach states he was unable to improve or teach Matt anything. His vocal ability was a gift.
