I don't think this was the thread where it was originally discussed, but there is some talk of early record players on this one.
Anyway, we have been clearing out the loft ready for loft insulation tomorrow, and came across an old record player which has four speeds 78, 45, 33 1/3 and 16. I just had a vague memory we had discussed 16 speed records somewhere before.
I think Richard said they were mainly used to play the speaking voice.
I presume this player must be somewhat rare these days. :? :?

That sounds like a very old one-I do not ever remember 16 rpm.

If it is still working , it could be worth something.

Hi, Harry here. Our record deck is a Goldring lenco, and also plays the four speeds, 16/33/45/78. We have had it about 30 years and I believe you can still buy them today. You can't beat vinyl.

I remember when I was a child, my Mum and Dad had an old radiogramme and that had the "16" on it as well.

I still would not think that there are many about these days-especially in good working order--with all the needles and stuff--and records....

I must admit I haven't seen one for years, it must be 25 years since we had ours.

No, transcription discs were 33&1/3 but were often 16 inches not 16 rpm.
