All Of A Sudden

Post by Paul » Mon Jul 16, 2012 4:19 am

Holy Cow folks, I feel so bad that I can't be around here too often, and although I detest Facebook, I went there tonight (a rarity) and came across a vid of Matt singing All Of A Sudden...I don't recall hearing that song before. OMG, he just breezes through the song so effortlessly and with such ease! Who knew he was a guest on Liberace's TV show?! I loved Liberace's playing style and my dad and I saw him here many times (also met him at the Eaton Centre). I'm just so amazed that there's so much stuff available here that no one would nomally be able to see!

Paul.

Robert: can you provide a youtube link to the Liberace show appearance where Matt Monro sings All of a Sudden? Thanks. I don't think that dvd works on US players, but I could be wrong about that.

Paul I'm surprised you don't have a multi region play/recorder. I do as I have a load of American dvd's & blu rays. My blu ray is also multi region.i

Hey Paul,
If you have any Japanese stores in your area, you can purchase a multi-region DVD player for a good price. I got one and I'm able to watch DVD's from the UK.

Are all their blu ray players multi region? Do they cost a lot more?

These days a lot of DVD players can be made multi region via the remote.

They don't cost that much more but it defeats the purpose if you don't travel. I do and often pick things up that are not on release here or they are cheaper Stateside. But no, not all the machines are multi region, if you visit the store or check online if it has MR in the description it's multi-region.

You do not need to travel to take advantage of multi region dvd players, as I have quite a few that I bought from Amazon US--or even Amazon Uk, that will only play in region 1 machines. [or multiregion, sometimes known as region "0".

And when I bought my most recent one, the dealer converted it for me before sending it out to me.

Same here Mariana. If I travel, yes I'll buy something if I see it, but been getting dvds from Amazon or my local record shop orders them for me.

As I understand it Region 0 will play on any machine, that is often found on music dvd's.

Marian I think most people would not buy a dvd unless it was regioin 2, that's the point I was making. I know some companies offer other region dvd's cheaper sometimes.

Hi Monrovians,
There is a rip-off version of Matt's "All of a Sudden" being played regularly in Australia by a bloke called Matt Flinders..I never did like his version.
I wonder whether there was some record company collusion in this case a la Steve Lawrence and the rip-off version of "Portrait"
Makes my blood boil !!
