Jeff Hooper - Matt Monro Medley

Post by hpooch » Sat Aug 12, 2006 8:49 pm

Has anyone seen or heard Jeff Hooper in the last 2-3 years? I just received his CD from Amazon.com/uk titled "As Long As I'm Singing", re-released on the Silverword Archive Collection earlier this year. Included in this CD is a 4-song medley of Matt Monro hits done wonderfully by Jeff.
I saw Jeff in person back in 1992-93 when he sang with the Syd Lawrence Orchestra and he always included 2 or 3 songs by Matt during his stage performance. He related a story about the time in 1982 when he first met Matt and was shown how to tie a Bow-Tie by Matt in the hotel swimming pool where they were both staying. I always thought Jeff had a wonderful stage presence and a better than average voice, and I prefer him over Peter Grant whose CD I just received last month. Any info about Jeff would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a Bunch!

Henry, we agree that Jeff Hooper is a great singer and performer.
We saw him about Five Years ago when he was the guest caberet at the Annual Sinatra Music Society Convention.
From web-site informatio, he is still singing and entertaining with his 17 piece Big Band, and his next venue is at the Llanelli Music and Jazz Festival, Summer and Dance Spectacular at the Diplomat Hotel August 27th.
