MATT MONRO COMPLETE RECORDINGS

Hello, new to this site, so pardon if my inquiry has been addressed.

I write to see if there is a complete recordings of Mr. Monro. I'm aware of the Single and EMI Sets, but nothing comprehensive and complete. Has anyone on here compiled a chronological complete recordings set? If so would love to heard from you.

Hi Bob,

Lets go through this bit by bit, starting with the Decca years. This era is best served by this set

It contains the full set of Decca recordings, plus as a bonus the soundtrack to the 1967 Australian TV Special "An Evening With" - It is also the ONLY Decca set out there that is authorized by the estate and remastered by me.

Next up is Fontana - If you have the Singles Collection, then you have all of these.

Parlophone comes next, but is the most complicated, so i'll leave that until last

Capitol - the complete capitol recordings are available as fully re-mastered (again by me) downloads via whichever store you prefer. These are the original LP's plus three extra collections. The Capitol Singles (This contains some new Stereo mixes not on the EMI Singles collection), The Capitol Rarities and Spanish Rarities. No CD's available at the moment (But I keep pushing!) One last Capitol set is the Undubbed versions of the Broadway LP on Stranger in Paradise – The Lost New York Session

EMI/Columbia years - This is amply served by last years "The Complete EMI Recordings 1971 - 1984" available from Cherry Red Records. https://www.cherryred.co.uk/matt-monro- ... 711984-4cd

Final Spanish Album - Released under several names. The complete recordings from those sessions are on the LP Retrato De Matt Monro. These have never been released on CD, However 11 of the 12 tracks are available as downloads on an album called "En Español - Original Recordings"

Other recordings - Live, TV & Radio.

There are two live albums available from my Label - Mint Audio - https://www.mint-audio.co.uk/ Hong-Kong 1962 and Australia 1984. There is also an album called Yesterday The Legendary Manila Concert on Night Owl records, however this is now deleted, but we do have plans to re-issue this as a download soon

BBC Recordings can be found on another deleted set "At the BBC" which comes with a DVD too! Some other BBC recordings from a radio series called Matt's Kind of Music are on a CD called "Born Free" from Delta Leisure which also contains some other live rarities. There are a few other bits, but you can find those in the discography under CD's - Other.

One final set contains soundtracks to BBC TV shows called "Matt Sings Monro (Live at the BBC)" and is a download only release.

Demos & Rarities.
Some of these are exclusively available via a CD included with the Special Edition of Michele's book (Which also contains a second volume listing his complete recording sessions (at least as they were known in 2011 - we've found a couple more since). Called "Special Reserve", it is no longer available but you might find one second hand.

Parlophone. This covers late 1959 - 1965 and is by far the most difficult to pin down. Obviously all the singles are on the Complete set (However if you want the song Tahiti in stereo you need the George Martin Years set).

Albums wise, The first LP "Love is the Same Anywhere" has been reissued on CD in the past. Be very wary as there are some pretty bad versions out there - This is the version you want https://www.discogs.com/release/1345059 ... e-Anywhere

The second LP was Hoagy Carmichael, Once again, lots of versions out there (Due to it being out of copyright in the UK and Europe as are all his pre 1963 recordings). The best sounding version is here on https://www.discogs.com/release/1005483 ... -and-Music which also contains rarities, out-takes and Michele narrating her book.

The Third LP "All My Loving" has never been officially re-issued as a stand alone CD, but is on this CD set https://www.discogs.com/master/2940568-Matt-Monro-Sings The Album is, however available as a download.

Also important are The Rare Monro and Matt Uncovered - The Rarer Monro. Packed full of rarities and previously unreleased tracks. However all the non Capitol tracks are on https://www.discogs.com/release/1000822 ... Collection which contains the best sounding versions of the Rare Monro tracks.

The Alternate Monro contains alternate takes of EMI Era recordings. Plus there are a few more rarities on Matt at the Movies

Finally there are the tracks recorded for and released by Liberty in the USA. These are spread around compilations like the Singer's Singer and Through The Years.

I think that's pretty much everything.
