Awful compilation

Just thought i'd warn you about a compilation that has recently appeared on a few of download sites containing recordings some of Matt's rarer recordings.

It contains his Fontana tracks taken directly from the "Matt Monro Meets Tony Blackburn" LP - and so therefore in naff Mock Stereo taken directly from the vinyl record and has had noise reduction added so heavy handedly it's surprising there is any music left! - Worse than that, the only legal way to issue these tracks from "Public Domain" is to take them from original 50's pressings not from a 1969 compilation! (The only place these have ever appeared outside the original releases - and in mock stereo - was the Tony Blackburn LP).

Following that are the tracks from Top Pop Club LP taken from very worn vinyl by the sounds of it! - which as they date from 1959 are not yet legally issuable as 'public domain tracks (that won't be until January 1st 2010)

The final track - tantalisingly "Strange Lady in Town" is appauling - it's sound is as dull as ditch water. It sounds like it was restored by playing it through a sock!

Fear not Matt fans, the Fontana tracks are due out in January in much better quality (hopefully from the original masters if they can be located) and the rest will come from pristine copies of the other tracks on the "Rarer Monro" soon.

Don't think that i'm saying this just because i've had nothing to do with the release, I genuinely don't want to see fans pay for substandard product!

Who knows! It's nothing to do with us so I can't say. Hopefully not having heard how bad it is!
