For me, Matt Monro is way out in front with so many songs I love; and I play his songs over and over. The next closest artists are Doris Day, Lisa Stansfield, Robbie Williams, Stevie Wonder, Crystal Gayle, and Coldplay.

Not finding many up tempo songs on your lists, Robert. I think I'll Take Romance is the only one. I love his ballads but also like the quicker ones. Hoping to at least see Let Me Sing and I'm Happy, a sensational Colin Keyes arrangement.

It is a fine track, but it wouldn't make my top 75 MM records. I grew up listening to the Glenn Miller record with that fabulous arrangement, and it's superior to the Matt Monro recording.

Paul, I do like most of Matts quicker uptempo songs .................. I also listed This Is the Life and Prisoner of Love two more uptempo songs :D .................but I much prefer Matt singing ballads :) :) ...........Matts diction and glorious tones are just perfect to sing ballads :) :)

Having played Disc 2 of the Rarer Monro a few times I must add both

The Folks Who Live On the Hill

and

Younger Than Springtime

to my list :D

Peggy Lee sings the ultimate recording of The Folks Who Live On the Hill .....................but Matts truly amazing "live" version of the song runs Peggy Lee very close indeed.

Another "live" recording of Matt singing Younger Than Springtime from South Pacific is just sublime. Both are from 1961 when Matts vocal powers were truly awesome :D :D
