I have just seen an acetate by Matt called "Go Bowling", £50 seems to be the starting price and the sale ends in two days.

Karl-I am not sure what an acetate is--is it like an Lp ? Sounds like a lot of money--but i guess it is very rare.

No Marian an acetate looks just likea 7" single with a white label and usually the title is written by hand, Tony Hatch gave me one of his years ago.
I did read that they deteriorate with constant playing as they are basically demos, I think I have played mine once as I also have the single.

Thanks Karl-i think I know what you mean--are they like the ones that used to be given away free in pop magazines etc.,

If you mean a flimsy disc then no, they look and feel like a regular single.

I do not think I have seen one of these then.
Might check out ebay to have a look.

Just checked that out on ebay--but as there was no picture and few details, it did not help.
But while I was there, I noticed some gold discs going for big money-plus lots of Matt Monro sheet music--in double digit money !!

Yes I noticed that too Marian, there are often gold and platinum discs on Dusty, I would love one but not at that price. However if anyone wants to buy one for my birthday you've got 11 days left!!!

The Go Bowling 45 disc is NOT an acetate. It is a pressed vinyl single released as a promotional item. They do come up on e-bay occasionally and is certianly not worth £50. It has a Black/Gold printed label - If memory serves me correctly there is a picture of the label in Special Reserve.
It has the same Jingle on both sides. This jingle is easy to find as it's on both the original and NEW editions of "The Singers Singer" 4 CD set.

RIchard I just quoted what I saw on EBay, I must check my Singers Singer as I have that box set. What some people ask for a record on EBay is ridiculous, I must be sitting on a goldmine!
