While out shopping today we popped into HMV and they had nine CD's by Matt (six different titles) and amongst the promotional CD's was TheVery Best Of Matt.

Excellent
Re: LOADS OF MATT
Let's hope Len Goodman's remark "Who needs American singers when we have Matt Monro" ..........helps to fill the record store shelves with Matts music

I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"

Re: LOADS OF MATT
A rather flippant remark as they have many great singers too and many of our singers were influenced by American artists.ROBERT M. wrote:Let's hope Len Goodman's remark "Who needs American singers when we have Matt Monro" ..........helps to fill the record store shelves with Matts music
Re: LOADS OF MATT
Yes it maybe a rather flippant remark by Len, as the US have some very good singers...............but to me and others on this site MM is the best singer of them all, he stand's head and shoulders above ANY other singerkarl wrote:ROBERT M. wrote: A rather flippant remark as they have many great singers too and many of our singers were influenced by American artists.
Today December 1st would have been Matts 87th birthday

Re: LOADS OF MATT
I went into the one remaining HMV on Oxford Street a few weeks ago and they had quite a lot too. Unfortunately more than half were public domain issues - all of which have pretty much the same tracks, but in a different order - this does nothing to persuade Warners (who have wanted nothing since George Martin) and Universal (who haven't issued anything since taking over the Capitol catalogue) - Perhaps Len Goodman should have a word!!

Can't previous sales on recent cd's sway them Richard?Rmoore wrote:I went into the one remaining HMV on Oxford Street a few weeks ago and they had quite a lot too. Re: LOADS OF MATT
Is that just general disinterest by Warners, or were they not happy with the level of sales for George Martin Years?Rmoore wrote:I went into the one remaining HMV on Oxford Street a few weeks ago and they had quite a lot too.
