Great performance by Matt here singing My Kind of Girl at Miss England in 1975 ........Matts glorious singing voice was the same here as when he became famous in 1960 😀 ..... it did alter slightly and was more husky sounding in his later career maybe when the affects of smoking and illness took their toll 🙁

I never thought Matt sounded husky but I did think on certain records he sounded like he had a cold. I once said to Jackie
Trent she sounded husky on a certain track and she said well that was me that day adding that she could have
recorded it again another day.... but she didn't LOL!

I was looking for a word to use in the post and husky sprung to mind so I used that word yesterday. Matts voice did change as he got older and I think all those years of smoking heavily did affect his singing voice which became deeper as the years went by 😉

I am always amazed at the amount of singers who smoke when their voice is their livelihood.

I liked the word glorious that Robert used to describe Matts voice in this 1975 Miss World contest. To hear him singing My Kind Of Girl or any song live is always a glorious experience more husky or not. I always wait for the differences between a record and a live performance and love it.

Latest YouTube performance by Matt You Bring Out The Best In Me from the Russell Harty show in 1984 is “wonderful” ...... I’ll leave “glorious” for another time 😀

A lovely song and every word sung to perfection. Felt sad looking at him but liked the casual look for a change. Wonderful Robert :)

Yes Sandra it is sad to see Matt like that knowing he didn’t have long left 😢 but he was singing as good as ever 😀

Todays gem from a show called Jubilee Of Music from December 31st 1976.

Portrait Of My Love sung beautifully with all the little nuances his live performances bring making it extra special for us.

Anyone seen the latest YouTube video..... Matt performs the very catch song Good News with Roy Castle Bernard Cribbins etc😀........this was laid in the vaults of ITV for 60 years, but most of Matts 20 minutes performance has been lost 🙁

Lovely clear clip Robert, good to hear Matt sing a song I know by The Springfields with altered lyrics.
