I know we have had this subject quite a while ago, but I don't think there were many comments at the time. One of my favourite albums is Matt's last english studio album, IF I NEVER SING ANOTHER SONG. I love the title track, superb lyrics by Don Black and wonderful melody, I THINK I'M GETTING OVER YOU is also brilliant, then a lovely sad song, BY HER SIDE, which was a Bside of an earlier single, a great cover of Andy Williams MAY EACH DAY, 2 xmas tracks, WHEN A CHILD IS BORN and MARY'S BOY CHILD, which is a treat in itself as Matt didn't record a complete Xmas album, then there is MORNING HAS BROKEN, ANSWER ME and the fantastic WITH THESE HANDS. Also YOU LIGHT UP MY LIFE and THE LAST FAREWELL feature on this fab album. What does everybody else think?

That sounds a great album John.
I do not have that one. Are we just sticking to Matt Monro albums??

We could feature other artists, unless you want to start a seperate page for that one, Marian.

Not at the moment John--we will give this one a little while.
I guess my favourite Matt album has to be "Heartbreakers" as it was the first Matt Cd I bought---has all of his big hits on it.
Later on I got a double "Heartbreakers " cd, which I guess is more unusual.

PS--It might be an idea to change your heading to "Favourite Matt Albums", so that everyone knows what is what !

My favourite Matt album, because it was the first one I bought was the "Very Best of" 20 GREAT tracks, including all of Matts most famous 8 songs (Portrait, My Kind of Girl, Softly, From Russia, Walk Away, Yesterday, Born Free and On Days)
Later on after buying most of Matts other albums on CD, I have to say the Capitol albums "Heres To My Lady" "This Is the Life" "These Years" and "The Late Late Show" are absolute CLASS. Great production, great songs and GREAT singing by Matt

ALICES ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND,
Curiouser and Curiouser and
The Me I Never Knew, the BEE GEE'S
First of May, the lovely
Sarah's Coming Home,
I Am and
Ethel Baby, to name but a few.

Yes, Lena and Harry, this is a great collection, this is amongst one of the first cd's I purchased of Matt's. THE PRECIOUS MOMENTS was released for the first time on cd and I love that one.

Hi all, for me it would have to be the Singers Singer boxset, it has so many wonderful tracks on it and the content and presentation is fantastic, Paul

My favourite compilation is Softly As I Leave You. This is the one with a burgundy cover and sadly no liner notes. I bought copies for a co-worker and my hair stylist. It's missing some of my favourite hits, like We're Gonna Change The World, but there's something special about the sequence and collection of songs, including For All We Know, I Have Dreamed, and September Song. I listen to this compilation more than the others I own. The Very Best of Matt Monro (which Robert mentions below) is a close second.
As for a specific non-compilation album it would have to be one of those four Capitol albums that we all love so much. I'm not which one I like best as they each have strengths. I listen to them quite often and for special moments.

I agree, Paul it is a good compilation, I think it was about the 4th or 5th album I purchased of Matt's, when I first fell in love with the voice.

I'd have to say The Rare Munro, because it has so many surprises on it. It was like was still with us and had recorded all the songs I'd never heard before. I've only tended to buy complilations to be honest, and they are all fantastic.
