Read on a a Peggy Lee bulletin board that the British EMI 2-on-1 series of CDs will have no more issues due to poor sales. If this is true, then we won't get the next Matt Monro twofer.Any truth in this Michele?

Not surprised..

To be honest I have found this series to be a little hit and miss...several
cds have been issued in Mono when Stereo masters were available. One set from Julie London missed a song, even though it was listed on the copy of the album sleeve! The artwork is often of poor quality - copies of album sleeves that were damaged and worn, with no attempt on improving them. The small indie lable BGO do a far better job on re-issing the EMI album back catalogue.
There have been several good issues on this series but it needs to improve in quality.

Just checked with EMI - there is no truth to this rumour. I have to say that with the new Spanish Two on One coming out in April, I didn't think there was any substance to it as I would surely have geard something.
The thing with this series is that EMI insist on releasing them to CD exctly as they appeared originally on album, that includes the covers. I would have liked to have designed something new but they say it has to be authentic to the original.
Hope that clears a few things up

Hi
Just ordered the same two-fer from Play.com, it's being shipped from the USA.
Jeff, I also ordered The Association's Greatest hits (also coming from the US) just to hear 'Cherish', after you said David Cassidy's version (which I love!) was rubbish!

Gray - I can't believe you've ordered the Matt Monro twofer from the USA. I proudly bought mine at HMV in London. But the important thing is you are adding it to your collection. Robert is right; it sounds wonderful with each listen and who cares if it's in mono. If you don't already have it, you also need to order the twofer of These Years and The Late Late Show.
I played for a sing-along on Saturday and a 33 year old schoolteacher didn't know Cherish. I was appalled. I'm glad you will finally get to hear the only version that matters. In the US, Cherish and Hey Jude were the two biggest hits in the late 1960s.

Hiya Jeff
Yup, I already own The Late Late Show two-fer, which I love, but haven't been able to track down 'This Is The Life' anywhere local to me

Never mind, at least it's on it's way now.
I noticed Michele mentioned she wanted to re-design the album covers for these releases, but I much, much prefer the original album artwork (sorry Michele!)
Also, if they're mono, so be it! Stereo would be nice, but I'll take whatever EMI can give us!

Strangely enough some of these "2 in 1 " releases seem to be in Mono--yet some are in stereo!!

Thanks for clearing up this issue Michele, glad that EMI are continuing with this series BUT I do hope that they use the Stereo masters for the albums - if and when possible...
