I once read that Matt Monro considered two of his ablums recorded in America on Capitol Records to be two of his favorite albums. They are "This Is The Life" and "Here's To My Lady". Anyone else heard this also? I also consider three more albums to be tops: "Invitation To The Movies" , "Invitation To Broadway" and "The Late, Late Show".

Anyone else have favorite albums?

"The Late Late Show" of course, as well as having a real soft spot for the Spanish language recordings, but my favourite would have to be Parlophone's Johnnie Spence arranged "Sings Hoagy Carmichael" which unfortunately i've been unable to find on CD so have had to cobble together the majority for personal use from various compilation sources.

For me personally the team of Matt and Spence on these recordings match anything produced by the more famous combination of Sinatra & Riddle, and the standards on this album are peerless.

Upon closer inspection, I left out two albums. "All My Loving", I think was the last Liberty Records album Matt recorded before he went to Capitol Records. This album contains those wonderful songs "All My Loving", "I Have Dreamed", "Once In Every Long And Lonely While", "As Long As She Needs Me" and "And Roses And Roses". And, can we forget the Capitol album "These Years" which contains that wonderful song from his cabaret performance in Australia, "What To Do". "Nobody Cares For Me" is so poignant. So many to choose from, I guess they were all great! Everyone must have a favorite.

"These Years" was re-released by EMI, and I think "All My Loving" was re-released on the CD "Matt Monro Sings".
