MATT MONRO DUET ON PETULA CLARK CD
Petula Clark's Duets CD (catalogue number VAR066791.2) released on 13 March 2007 contains a duet with Matt Monro. The track in question is called 'Fancy Meeting You Here' and is from a TV show of the 60s.

Thanks for that information Lee---considering it was released 2 weeks ago, I have seen no information on it at all--and the only place I could track it down to order was at Amazon. Sounds a great cd--lots of tracks-a few solo ones from Petula---great duet with Bobby Darin, which I downloaded ages ago--plus of course the duet with Matt--which I have not heard before. Disappoitingly no duet with Johnny Mathis which I thought might be included--never mind--lots more on there to enjoy !

Yes, Looks like some nice duets, so we will order this one. HMV have the CD but no track listing.
Apparently Petula Clark is appearing at Two Warner Holiday centres in September, one at "Cricket St Thomas Somerset," a beautiful spot, and
At "Sinah Warren Hayling Island", we have had several fantastic holidays at this centre.

Strange that Petula and Matt are sharing a duet, as I remember (in the Singers Singer booklet I think) Petula saying that she didn't know Matt personally, but that she liked his voice, giving "Look For Small Pleasures" as an example

"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
If the song is from a TV show from the 60's, they probably did sing together at the time (I would assume), as technology in those days was far behind todays "hyper technology" making it near impossible I would guess to do a seperate duet
Frank Sinatra also did a full (not in the same room) duets album.

These duets are never fully explained, well not each individual track isn't . Petula Clark hosted many shows on radio and television with several of the artistes on this CD, and so some may be the actual recorded performance. Others are studio recorded, particularly the one with Dusty Springfield for instance, Dusty's recording used was in 1974, and Petulas one in 2006.
As far as "Fancy Meeting You Again," with Matt, perhaps this is another song that is there to be discovered and remastered again, but there is a booklet with the Cd with something written about each artist or song from Petula.
Matt and Petula were often both the invited guests at special occasions. They were at the Keith Prowse 177 th Anniversary Party, and on at least Three other occasions were both taking part in the Starlight Dances at Harringay to raise money for The Organisation of Spastics.
Matt's recording of "Were Gonna Change" The World is one of Petula's favourite recordings.
This song "Fancy Meeting You Again" is known to us and is recorded by Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney.

John, we will too. We were so disappointed with the first Sinatra duets album that somehow we were put off in more ways than one, but the progress made with modern technology since that first album, has warmed us more towards the idea particularly since the Cliff Richards duets album with Matt's "Let There Be Love" was in no doubt the best track on there.
