Love the new album with the fine selection of favourites, plus the exciting addition of "Historia de Amor". "Once in Every Long and Lonely While" is beautiful too, as is "More" and "Ebb Tide", and not forgetting "The Music Played", "I'm Glad there is You" and "Till the End of Time".. A wonderful choice of love songs for this time of year.
The cover is excellent, I think it would attract me to buy the album even if I had no knowledge of the content. Lovely sentiments expressed in the sleeve notes too Michele.

Going back to the last couple of postings on feeding ducks etc--I remember at this time of year, my husband would cut up some bread into little squares---and fry them for the birds in our garden, as he reckoned they needed more fat in their diet at this time of year!

Maybe he was right. I know the cat also found them tasty--perhaps it was more to do with knowing the food had been put out for the birds.!!

We did not have the dogs at that time.

Yes, Marian, I remember my Aunt doing something similar to that, she used to heat up some fat and put bird nuts in it and then let it set so the birds could peck at it. She lived in the country and used to get a lot of wild birds in the garden. I used to go and stay there in the holidays, ah, those were the days! :D
Anyhow, Marian from Reading, I am glad you enjoyed the new cd.

I know you and I live in the same town John, but shopping at the supermarket just round the corner from me is ridiculous!

Small world I know, But even smaller town!

Yes Marian, the album entered the charts at #39. Lets hope it continues an upward trend over the coming few weeks. If the advertisement had gone out countrywide this week, that could have helped a little bit more, but I think the advert only appeared on Yorkshire TV screens since yesterday or the day before, but I haven't seen it yet. Another reason is that it is only 2 years since the "Ultimate" was advertised on TV, eventually selling by the bucket load, so perhaps its a little bit too soon after the "Ultimate" album was released, for "From Matt With Love" to be as successful, as many people will have bought the "Ultimate" album, so will not buy this new one so soon afterwards.

I think it was about the 3rd or 4th week out when THE ULTIMATE climbed to the top ten, so I definitely think there is hope for this one, especially as Valentines Day is this coming week. Like you say Robert, I have yet to see the advert on TV.

Maybe the ad is being concentrated on the South-I have seen it quite a few times now--sometimes Tesco, sometimes WH Smith.

Apparently some areas are more expensive than others so the advert won't be shown in all areas.

I'm happy it made the top 40 on the Official Charts, as that's the threshold for chart statistics. For example, if you search on Matt Monro in everyhit.com, you get recent two top 40 albums which is an accomplishment.

Robert, I don't totally agree with you. People will purchase the new CD as this compilation is far superior to The Ultimate. How can something be called The Ultimate and not include On Days Like These and For All We Know? But it introduced me to I Can't Stop Loving You, so it was worth the purchase. I feel people will want to have this new love song collection, as there are many songs that weren't included in The Ultimate.

I have to agree with Paul-I think the song selection on this new cd is just perfect--and of course so appropriate for Valentines day--and also for birthdays, anniversaries etc. It is a really lovely cd.

Well done -[again] to Michele and everyone connected with it.
