I think the ticket you want is called an "Advance" ticket---like the old "Apex" ticket.

What about National Express? They usually have good fares. It might be a long journey from Blackpool or Lincoln though.

Hi Marian, no I haven't tried the station itself, but it seems unusual that trainline.com doesn't have the offers. I'll have a look at British Rail but I should think they will be the same. I have been lucky on my last couple of visits to London, got the tickets for just over £50.00 then, which is pretty good. At least they haven't gone up.
As for National Express Paul, I could probably get a return for less than £20.00 but it is an awfully long journey, over 8 hours, it is a few years since I went on the coach but I wouldn't do it again.

I have checked British Rail as well, exactly the same prices. It doesn't matter anyhow, I always have that amount in my head before booking anyhow, then if it is any cheaper it is a nice surprise.

I don't think the reduced fares will be on sale just yet, usually about twelve weeks prior to a journey is the best time to look for these offers.
I've only just realised how close September is!!!

Hi John,

Can't believe your fare will be that much.As I said on the previous page, yesterday was the first day of the 12 week early booking offer, and yes we did go direct to the station.

Maybe they only have a limited number of 'cheapies'.

We just asked what was the best deal that they had.So maybe when you actually go and book you will get a better price. We hope so :)

Hi Sandra, I did have another look, and there was a cheaper ticket if I booked two singles, but only on the journey to London, which is unusual because I usually get the chaeper one coming back, but it is an afternoon train and I like to get down earlier. I'll have another look in a couple of weeks when I am ready to book, but it doesn't matter anyhow. I am looking forward to it so that's all that matters. :D

My sister and I are already planning our Christmas cards--we both usually make lots, and the only way to start is EARLY. Last week, on the Craft chAnnel , Christmas was on almost every programme.
