I don't know if everyone knows but if you are going to the 'big event' and are travelling by train how much cheaper it is if you book well in advance.

You can book 12 weeks in advance which started today. We have just paid £38-yes £38(£19 each)
from our area Newark Northgate to Kings Cross- arriving on September 13th and departing on September 15th.And that is without a rail card.

Pretty good eh :D :D

That is excellent--I have done that in the past when I have been travelling to concerts etc.
Luckily, if I get a railcard to London, the fare is reasonable--but still about £10.00 for less than 40 miles to London--so you really did get a bargain there.

Well, I have just checked, and there are no discounts on my journey, even with thetrainline.com the price is still £74.80 return. Saying that, I have paid more than that before, about £85.00 once, I think.

You should be able to get something cheaper than that John-especially this far in advance-have you tried the station itself ?
