Hi,

I know some of you guys like to read about the restoration behind some of the projects we do.

If that's the case take a look at my website

http://www.mint-audio-restoration.co.uk ... ersCD.html

for notes about the remastering of The Singer's Singer.

Richard

Richard it all sounds very technical but I am amazed at EMI Asia losing the masters, shoudl have kept them in Britain! Also their refusal to help further, they sound like a really nice bunch?!

That's the problem Karl they never have been in Britain.

They were recorded in Manila in 1983 and that's where the tapes should still be!

Thanks for the link Richard, we enjoyed reading and playing the clips.

You certainly had your work cut out and we can now look forward to the release.

At the fantastic price of this set let's hope it sells a bundle and gets Matt into the charts, wouldn't that be great?

I have to agree with Richard. Being one that lived in the Philippines and buying records and tapes over there was just horrifying! I would hold out and try to obtain import copies even if it cost a little more. I can remember taking an album back because it was pressed so bad it sounded like a FM radio that wasn't getting a signal. The worse thing they wouldn't take it back because they said it wasn't scratched. My solution and this was naughty of me, I put a little nick in the grooves and got my money back. The tapes were really a nightmare as they were cheaply made and would tangle after a few plays. There was also 2 kinds of cassettes, the normal ones and the ones that were supposedly recorded with High Quality tape..yeah right!! I think though the quality of their cd's have become much better.

Sorry for my B**chng but Richard is spot on when he said the record was horrid.

A nice review of'The Singers Singer' in Novembers issue of 'In Tune International'
including high praise for Michele and Richard eg. ''The results are admirable and available at an incredible low budget price. However, with one hundred Matt Monro songs to consider I won't even attempt to mention even one but wholeheartedly recommend this four-CD set to all'' :D :D

Very, very reasonably priced Sandra, I was in HMV yesterday and it was there at £6.00. They didn't have many other of his cd's though, just two or three.

Yes it was resonably priced cost me about $12.00 here in the US. I love the cd but my Dad listens to it more than I do. Funny that I found it in his stereo cabinet when I was looking for it the other day!
